Natural
Materials
As well as offering ‘standard’
materials (Dulux, Crown, Albany etc), we can also offer eco friendly materials.
Many of us are becoming more aware of the need to
protect our environment and become more ecologically friendly. There is a
small but growing demand for ecologically friendly material. Just as we are
making changes in other areas (recycling, organic food etc), some of us
are aware that natural materials are available to decorate our homes.
The chemicals used in
standard materials are being partially blamed for sick building syndrome (SBS)
whereby individuals complain of headaches, nausea and other ailments.
Using natural materials is being strongly linked to being beneficial to your
health. It's a huge step in the right direction for you, your
children and the environment.
There are materials on
the market now made from natural materials (oils, plant extracts etc). The
benefits of using these materials in your home are:
The production process
of these materials drastically reduces environmental impact compared to
‘normal’ materials.
This means they help maintain a cleaner and healthier planet.
The effect on our environment of materials being
washed down the sink is also drastically reduced as these materials biodegrade without harming the environment.
The
main effects are in the actual home or building. Standard materials emit
odours (some experts are claiming these are severely detrimental to
health) up to seven years
after application. Just because you can’t smell it any more, doesn’t
mean it’s not still in the air.
Natural materials
are not only virtually odour free, but
the vapours they do release are of no danger to us. As an added benefit,
if these materials are applied over standard materials, they help to mask and
filter existing fumes. After researching manufacturers, we are pleased to
offer products from the Biofa company. These products include:
